Question:
Consumer IR and Xbox 360
Hello! I dont know if this was posted, but I bought a Compaq v3020us for my brother in this christmas. It does have the consumer IR that it really dont work as a regular IR and the notebook didnt include the original remote from HP, so the other day I wante to see a movie in the Xbox 360 and I have the regular controller of the Xbox, and my brother was almost near the TV and I was controlling the Notebook! :p
My brother said "WTF" and then we realized that this controller also worked for the Compaq notebook.
Hehe I just wanted to share and let you know that may be another controller could work for the Notebook, or at least that the Xbox Controller worked just fine ;)
Thank you and sorry for my english! :D

Re: Consumer IR and Xbox 360
Thats interesting.
**edit*
Wait, are you sayign you were using a regular xbox controller to control the PC?
**edit again**
The 360 controllers do not use IR. They use UHF. I believe the only thing the IR sensor on the xbox is for is for the DVD remote.

Re: Consumer IR and Xbox 360
I think he must be referring to the XBOX 360 Universal Remote, which does affect my HP DV2000T in a negative way. What I mean is that the remote will turn on my notebook when I am trying to use my XBOX. They are primarily in two different rooms now so it's not a big deal but it was annoying at first.

That's rather interesting.
I don't think any of my remotes around the house affect my dv2000's IR port, or my Asus P5W remote receiver.
Odd how some remotes do it and other's don't.
:p

I'm having the problem of my remotes turning my DV2000t on also. I started a thread (linked below) but don't have a solution yet.

Re: Consumer IR and Xbox 360
Ah! okay. Interesting. I'm probably not going to buy the remote as it's not needed to play dvds (wasn't really for the xbox either). But... I dunno. It does have a lot of buttons. And I like things with buttons.
I wonder if it would interface with my mac.
