V1J shutdown- & process termination issues

Question:
V1J shutdown- & process termination issues
Hi all,
Ever since I received my new V1J Aj004P I've been very pleased with it, there are however, two things that are not how they are supposed to be.
Issue #1
The battery wear level is already up to 26%, which is not quite normal after just a couple of months worth of use. I hardly use the lappy on battery only, most of the time it's plugged in. The battery has also been calibrated using the BIOS. Judging from the Battery wear topic this is just (another?) faulty battery to be replaced by Asus, nothing that cannot be overcome here.
However... (issue #2)
Ever since I had the laptop I've had another problem, maybe hardware-related, I'm not sure.
The deal is, when I choose to download a wordfile e.g. using IE and I opt for opening it right away without first saving it, IE crashes. This in turn leads to the laptop not shutting down anymore through the start menu, when I try nothing happens and the laptop remains fully functional. Rebooting is all that seems to help.
The same seems to be the deal with other programs somehow connecting to the internet, and once they are closed after a crash the process remains in the task manager and it can't be terminated. (I've tried using advanced process terminator, to no avail) Trying to restart the same program after it has crashed leads to the same process being created along with the memory usage, but nothing showing up. This once lead me to have 5 wmplayer.exe's running. Again, rebooting using the I/O button is the only thing which seems to "clear" everything.
Any info and/or help on this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Heat accelerates how fast your battery wears out. If your system runs hot all the time while on AC this will accelerate how fast your battery wears.

That could be caused by a million software issues.

Even when gaming the temperature rarely exeeds 70 degrees. And it's not like I'm playing games 24/7, or using my laptop all that time for that matter. But even if it would run hot all the time, isn't 26% wear after only a few months use a tad too much?

Essentially what I've read is that the colder the better as long as you don't freeze the battery. It also recommends against storing the battery at 100% charge. There is a table in there that shows their results.

OK, thanks. I'll look into that.

"If you have a spare lithium-ion battery, use one to the fullest and keep the other cool by placing it in the refrigerator".
Anyone try this? Or it's just a theory?

Anyone try this? Or it's just a theory? sounds like you just offered your battery for such a experiment :)
let us know what happenes :D

For issue #1
The alarming battery wear level is due to either poor ACPI coding of the bios or the new charging circuit they are using in their new laptops. You will notice that even though windows will say that your battery is out of juice (0%), your computer will still stay on for a good one hour or so. Unless ASUS finds a fix for that issue, getting your battery replaced is your best bet.

Are you accessing internet via wireless? If so, try updating the intel PROset wireless drivers and ASUS ATK0100 drivers. Did you experience the IE crash when you bought your laptop?

My battery failed to even keep the laptop running through a 2 hour class in battery saving mode, running only a few apps. After that it did shut down.
As for #2, I am accessing internet via a wireless connection, and yes, I experienced the IE crash since I first set up my WLAN after purchasing the laptop. I'm hoping updating the drivers helps.

You should definitely get your lappy checked by ASUS.
Have you tried replicating your issue #2 using wired LAN?
