Question:
Insprion 6000 Max Performance
Hey all,
I am looking to get maximum performance out of my basic Insprion 6000, whatever that may be. I have 1.6 Mobile Centrino, 512 MB Ram, and the basic Mobile Intel(R) 915GM/GMS,910GML chipset.
Any suggestions?

What are you trying to do with it?
Only thing I can think of without overclocking is going to be increasing the amount of RAM you have in your computer.

I am just trying to get maximum program response, I don't run too many games, I just want the machine to run as mast as it can, I tend to run quite a few programs at a time. I am planning on getting more memory soon but didn't know if anyone had any ideas or suggestions on maximizing performance as is.

If you have a bunch of programs open at once. I would upgrade the ram. You can get it a newegg.com. A faster 7200 hard drive would allow programs to open quicker and for windows to boot quicker. A big plus with photoshop to. User a good program like to keep ithttp://ccleaner.com/. User anti-virus program beside norton.

Besides Norton, McAfee from Dell Software is another memory hog, choose another AV like AVG/Kaspersky.
Make sure you have 1GB RAM DDR2 533 running in dual channel, and at least HD with 5400RPM 8MB buffer will help, in this case u dont upgrade the processor.
