Question:
Fan control for MS-1013
I'm looking for a fan control software for the MS-1013. I have had the white screen of death twice and it's only day 2.... I noticed that the issue is around the heat due to the fan slwing down. So I want to keep the fan running all the time.
Any one kown of a software available. I am using Win XP 64bit.
Thanks

Use the beta bios to flash your system (if you're comfortable doing so), then set your RAM to 333mhz in the bios screen.
You can steal Unleaded's beta bios at http://rawpowerpc.com/a1013amr431.rar (it's okay, he knows)

OMG, I do not you, you...THIEF :)
Yeah, Korin, the issue is not related to heat per se, but rather to the fact that the MS-1013 does not officially support DDR400. Not every 1013 gets the WSoD, even with paired DDR400 SODIMMS, however, those that do, can be cured by installing v4.31 (yes, it's a Beta, however, MSI has told me that it will be made final as it stands now). v4.31 allows for you to manually set DRAM frequency...default setting is "Auto", simply change this to 333MHz.
NOTE: First download CPU-Z and click on the mainboard tab to confirm that you have the RS480 southbridge (vs. the RS482). ONLY use this BIOS if your system has the RS480

Ok, I installed he bios, and put the am speed at 333mhz. Does this mean the problem is fixed and I can use power saving options when in battery mode?
Also, is there a replacement software for AMD power now that works better?
Thanks for the help

Korin,
The bios and RAM settings was for the white screen of death, which should now be fixed.
You should still be able to use power saving options in battery mode.

So that means I have the laptop I wanted. Good, and thanks for the info, I just wasn't sure even with the fix if I would be able to to use power saving settings to max my battery.
Thanks for the help.

Re: Fan control for MS-1013
My fan has recently been rather relentless in the past couple days, its always on in battery mode. This can't be good for battery life, I don't do much more than spin a cd occasionally, surf and listen to music yet my fan is always on. What's up with that?

Re: Fan control for MS-1013
what do you mean by relentless - always on, never turns off? even when it's idle? If it is, literally, always on, what temps is your cpu showing?

Re: Fan control for MS-1013
I'm having the same problem. The cpu fan spins up even before the BIOS is finished posting and never turns off. This is a real drain on the battery. The CPU temp is average 31 C. Power settings are set to laptop/portable and I've updated all the latest drivers.

I hope this can be resolved, I've layed off the matter because I've lately unhooked my battery completely as I only use my NB at home on power.
