That is very rare. luckily no one was hurt and it happened while someone was home and not while the laptop was on and no one around

Re: Another Macbook Pro Fire!!!
i think the question to ask is:
does this only happen with malefunctioning devices or could it potentially happen on any macbook under certain circumstances.
i believe it is the first and i also believe there will be quite a lot of fake cable burnings out there.. just because people are bored and think of something interesting to do... (and maybe one or the other free apple thingi..)
cheers

Re: Another Macbook Pro Fire!!!
I like how the poster on the macforums is already demanding "more than a measly iPod" in response to the supposed fire in his macbook. Like Apple owes him something other than a working system that he bought.
"they owe me"....blah blah blah. two different manufacturing errors in 2 Apples (out of however many thousand) isn't exactly a recall issue. Plus, you don't know if there was poor power input, an electrical surge, etc. But the first thing the guy wants is free gifts. disgusting attitude.

Wow - that's pretty bad. You'd think if there was a surge, the power brick would take the brunt of it, not the MagSafe power connector.

Re: Another Macbook Pro Fire!!!
the 2nd 'fire' wasn't proven to have anything to do with the magsafe. it was "on that side". he assumed it was, and rrported it as such, but his comments proved that he has no idea what caused it, as there was no damage to the connector.
