Question:
E1505: wireless connects but the browser does not open
Hi All
I just got my New E1505 today.
I have Intel PRO/wireless 3945ABG card. It seems that it detects the wireless connection, as it shows the detected wireless connection and it's strength. But when I try to open a site in the browser it does not open. The browser page remains blank without any error massage!
Pelase tell me what could the solution for this, it's really so fustrating :-(, not being able to connect to net!!!!!
Also I would like to mention that I am not able to connect to LAN using the "Automatic Proxy Detection". It says that no proxy is been assigned.
Thanks in advance!!

hola,
can you elaborate on what you mean by "insecure"? do you mean only, WEP/WPA? what about MAC filtering, etc. ?
can you connect to the router, launch your command prompt and type in "ipconfig /all". post your results.
EDIT: forgot to ask, can you ping any sites at all?

Re: E1505: wireless connects but the browser does not open
I doubt this will help anyone, but since i'm not sure if anyone did this, thought I would post it. With intel, just because it says that it is detected a network does not mean that it is connected.
To connect to a network, you have to open up intel proset wireless (satellite icon in your task bar or it is under start-->programs). This will show all of the wireless networks (in the lower box) that your wireless card is detecting. Double click on your wireless network, and fill out the information.

Re: E1505: wireless connects but the browser does not open
the secured and nonsecured are the type the proset wireless defines. What i found that the wireless connection where 'security key' is needed, like the one I have in my home, is secured. Whereas in my school it does not ask for ny kwy and it is labelled as nonsecured
I am still trying a lot. talked a few times with the dell technical support personnels but not much help and they all suggest different stuffs without much result
relly looking for the right help

hi Southerngirl,
I have already tried the way you told to check whether it's really connected or not. I have filled up the key for the secured network at my home it gets connected but the i am not able to get connected to internet :-(
in school also similar problem.
i'm just wondering can it be a driver probelm? or may i have to downlod some stuff?
thanks

Doesn't sound like a driver or hardware problem. Usually if that was the case, you wouldn't connect to any network at all.
Try doing what Drumfu suggested in his post.
Also, what firewall are you using?
