Question:
E1505 'Dell Drivers and Utilities" CD
Anyone have one....????
If so, can you provide the Part Number and Rev from disk [not the sticky label on the CD sleeve]???
Thanks

P/N UF634 Rev A00
Only problem, no clue if its for the E1505, the Media Direct ReInstall that I got with it was the wrong one.

They should have sent you that disc when you ordered your XP disc. Any particular reason as to why you are trying to find it?

I have two of the Drivers and Utilities CD's, one I assume that was in the box with my XP MCE that I paid $10.
  1. P/N Y2986 Rev A29 dated Feb 2006
  2. P/N UF634 Rev A00 dated Feb 2006
It just never ends with Dell.

Re: E1505 'Dell Drivers and Utilities" CD
the A29 one seems like it would be for the 9300/6000 while the A00 is for the newer systems. I'm only suggesting this because of the BIOS numbering. When dell upgrades the BIOS, they +1 to the previous number, so it seems like the disc with 00 with be the newer disc. Just my two cents...
Any difference between the discs Hermit?

Re: E1505 'Dell Drivers and Utilities" CD
I received the 'P/N Y2986 Rev A29 dated Feb 2006' disk even though the sleeve was marked as 'PN G3714 A30'
In comparing contents of disk with available Dell downloads...
Except for the Ricoh ChipSet driver... Nothing else is current... There was not a copy of the 945GM driver on the disk, etc etc
I can understand a 'few' being not up-to-speed, but all of them [or nearly so]???? Figured, maybe the wrong disk... Hence the question.
Except for the diagnostics.... not of much use.
Given Dell's track record so far [with me anyway] thought it was wrong media...
Thanks

Re: E1505 'Dell Drivers and Utilities" CD
That's pretty normal. The driver's disc is usually made with the first set of drivers that were released for that system, and then the current ones are on the website.
The drivers disc will contain all of the drivers for the E1505 whether they match your laptop or not.
The 945GM should be under chipset.

Just got done installing the CD, just to see....
E1505 is not listed in the "System Model" dropdown menu. We got things like.... "MXC051, ME051, MXG051, and various Inspirons [600m, 700m, 710m, 9300 6000 2200], but nothing looking like it belongs to me....
Hmmmm.....

ps Nothing under chipset for Intel graphics.... Did have a listing under the Video Drivers, but everything was for the 915GM

Re: E1505 'Dell Drivers and Utilities" CD
LOL, yeah it would make sense that it was under the video card since it is the video driver. I was thinking of the chipset drivers for intel. Sorry.

Any difference between the discs Hermit? Since I DL the drivers from Dell's website, I'm not sure I've used either. The UF634 is unopened. I've had zero problems getting a clean Device Manager screen with the DL drivers.
So drivers and utilities, I know what a driver is, what pray tell is a utility in Dell speak?
I'm 90% certain I have the real MediaDirect 2.0 ReInstall CD on its way, just no tracking number yet, shipped today according to Dell's order number.
