6400 - X1400 Question!

6400 - X1400 Question!
Hi there
Wondering if anyone out there can give me some advice.
I am planning to reload my notebook to get rid of all the bloatware but have noticed the following;
My display seems "jerky" if that makes sense. Surfing the net I notice that when a plage loads it seems jerkey before the actual page is loaded.
Looking at the "Catalyst Control Centre" (I opted for the X1400, 256MB display adapter" I noticed that the control centre dialogue boxes seem "corrupted" as in the words that give the options for the configurations are on top of each other, unreadable!
Question - software or hardware?
Thanks

Probably software.
Run the ATI uninstaller in control panel>Add/remove, and then re-install the CCC and drivers from yr discs or download. Check your display settings match yr screen resolution.

Stormies Its neither... well technically its software but its not a bug exactly. You have the SXGA+ screen which has a higher than typical resolution... to counter this the default font size is 120dpi instead of 96dpi (you can change this in the display properties)... the problem is that catalyst isnt too smart about its font handling and expects all the fonts to be 96dpi... as a result things get cut off and look wierd in the app.
I have the same problem... you can reset your font to 96dpi to get around it if it bugs you.

Hi there
Thanks a ton for the advice, I have changed the font size and the "jerkiness" has gone. Fonts are a tad small but that's okay.
Did you change the DPI purely because of the CCC not displaying correctly or was because of the jerky loading of pages?
