inspiron 9400 nvidia 7800go drivers
hi, just taken delivery of inspiron 9400 and ran 3d mark 05 .....disapointed with results. only3778.
anyone know which nvidia drivers to upgrade to?
its currently running the 78.59 from dell , looked at nvidia site ( maybe i'm being a bit dumb) but they only list for a go gtx.
any help ( or spare braincells) would be appreciated.

The dell drivers are rubbish for the 7800, go to www.tweaksrus.com and get XTreme-G MobileForce 84.22-v2.30 drivers, then you can up the core and memory clocks and get some real good performance up to 40% more ive read. Dell underclocks the card at 250mhz im running at 360mhz core and 840 memory with the mobile force with no increase in temps.

What are you using to monitor the gpu temp? I've been using the gpu temp monitor that comes with the tweaksrus drivers, but I'm not sure I trust them. Sometimes, they seem to go totally haywire on me. Last night, I was playing Oblivion for a couple hours, quit the game, and brought up the temp monitor to get a guage on where things were. The monitor said 73C, dropped down to 70C over the next minute or two, then just started climbing. By the time it hit 77C, I restarted my computer. After restart, the temp was in the 60s, and dropped down to 62C... Seems a little goofy to me.

I stopped using the tweak drivers because even at 250mhz the core as pushing 83'C!, I went back to the Dell's, which aren't that bad, the biggest thing I found is removing all the bloat software that is running in the backround!
I then download riva tuner, which is awesome for monitoring temperature..it even saves a time history to a log so you can see the peak temps during gaming. With that I'm extremely happy, with the dell drivers to boot. Experiment...I lost a few hundred 3dmark points going back to the dell drivers, but that is pretty insignificant, compared to the heat issue I had with the tweak drivers.
