Question:
e1505 display drivers
Hey, formatted my e1505 and wanted to download the display drivers from Dell's website, but they have around 8 different options listed, with no indication of what they are. Anybody have any idea?

Re: e1505 display drivers
I see only three options: X1300, X1400 and 945GM. What video card do you have? If you are actually looking for the display drivers, have you looked in the device manager for the display type?

Re: e1505 display drivers
I too found it difficult to find the display drivers on dells site... I eventually found it by looking up the drivers available for my service code. I tried looking on ATIs site too but didnt find what I was looking for.
The funny thing is that after all that, I downloaded the omega drivers from omegadrivers.net and am using them... they seem much cleaner and faster than the Catalyst drivers anyway... Im getting over 100 points higher on 3dmark with them for example.

Re: e1505 display drivers
The drivers that you are looking for are called video drivers, not display drivers. The display drivers are for connecting to external screens and the video drivers are for the graphics card. Follow this link:
*edit* just found out the link didnnt work, just go the the drivers page for the e1505 on dell's support website
You will find a list of the drivers, the video drivers are the last one, with three options. The display drivers are the 6th one. I hope this helped and wasn't repeating anything you already knew.

Re: e1505 display drivers
yikes, sorry for the confusion. I already have the video drivers (x1400, planning to install omegas later). What i had meant was when I go to the driver site at Dell.com, and go through the option for Insprion, E1505 ---> Windows XP, it lists a set of different drivers. Chipset, Video etc.
There's a Display Devices listing there. Is that just a listing of Dell's external monitors then?
This is my first laptop. and I was wondering if there was a way that I could adjust contrast etc. (not brightness, know how to do that).
Also, I noticed that when i first got my laptop, there was a brightness indicator on the screen when i adjusted the brightness (volume control too), and that's gone since I formatted.
So in my simple my mind i thought display drivers were it, since, hey, it's on my display screen. lol
Anyway. sorry for the confusion. and if I have confused everyone even more.:)

Did you re-install QuickSet??? If not, it's available in the same area you've been looking, it's under the 'Applications' tree.
fwiw The files in the Display Devices download area appear to make needed registry changes for properly configuring video card support for various Dell external monitors. Also included are monitor 'color profiles' [.icm files] to refine the display appearance.
The registry entries are interesting in that they may allow for interface to Microsoft's Color Control Panel applet for XP. Microsoft article
Here's another link addressing color management.
I find it interesting that there is not a color profile set for my E1505 nor can I find one anywhere....
