Just bought a brand new Dell...

Question:
Just bought a brand new Dell...
The M140/630M
Now my question is should I format and get rid of the junk it comes with, or should I uninstall all the junk one by one? I never owned a laptop before but I am very familiar with a desktop and done this format business more than i could count.
Will formating instead of uninstalling all the junk be a better option?

If you have the disks (drivers and OS), I recommend reinstallation.

I think a reformat is the best option. If you don't do a reformat then you might still have some of the bloatware buried in your system. On top of that you will need to run Reg cleaners and things of that nature.
The easiest way is a clean install of Windows. :)

After the tedious 'uninstallation' of software which can take time. If and when you have taken every morsel of bloatware and extra stuff off, you still have to run defragmentation. After that, it has taken longer than you ever imagined.
If it's trialware it's junk. I don't want it and don't need it.

I just went through this dilemma myself. I started out trying to remove everything piece by piece. It wasn't worth the effort, the reinstall was about as fast and a better option. Just follow the faq closely and you should be fine.
