Question:
Cooling Pads For e1705???
I have an e1705 on it's way to me from Dell :)
Quick couple questions first...
1. Do heating pads draw a lot of power from the battery, or is it not very noticable?
2. Does the laptop simply sit on top of the heating pad or does it snap into place somehow? I am hoping I can still use this as a "LAP"top.
So I have this e1705 on it's way to me via UPS right now. However, I read that e1705's have heating issues with the GeFroce 7800 and especially while gaming which is what I plan on using this thing for quite a bit. So I'm wondering what the best cooling pad is for this model?? I'm also wondering what a good budget cooling pad would be. I'm not sure if I want to spend $60 on a pad if it's only slightly better than a $30 pad.
Thanks in advance for any help! :)

Start here, read reviews. I hear the Vantec Lapcool4 and the Bytecc are good values
Good Discussion here

Thanks Acolyte... I read through that thread but didn't seem to find any really good info on cooling pads specifically for an e1705
There must be a specific cooling pad out there that's far superior to anything else.

Great OC'ing. You will definently get a better score on those clocks. When I first got my I9300 it got 3400 3dMarks and now after OC it gets 4574 or something like that. As for the cooler, I am guessing you have the E1705, which is the same form factor as the I9300. I would recommend this one from newegg:
The laptop does hang over the sides, but it leaves the room for the bottom vents to get air. There was like a 5-10 degree drop in my temps once I started using this cooling pad.
This is the best one I found for a resonable price...granted it is not made for the E1705, but it performs great. Just thought I would mention it in here too. :)

If you are looking to use it on your lap, I would consider getting this also. Even with the combined cost it is a little more than the Vantec.
The top on that is. :)

As you know heat is the main enemy of laptops. So if you keep your PC cooler, it might last longer. Or so people believe. Also...it will extend the life of the fans inside your laptop because they don't have to be going as fast as without a cooler.
Another is because it is preference because people want to put their notebooks on their laps, which in turn will block the fans, this way, you can avoid that. :)
