Question:
e1505 HD & RAM upgrade?
I just purchased a new e1505 from dell last night...
I got the cheapest HD(40gig 5400rpm) and RAM(1gig DDR2-533) because I can easily upgrade these in the after market for cheap $$$.
My question is what is the best HD and RAM to get?
I went to crucial.com and checked the spec's there and it says the fastest ram supported is (DDR2-667 / pc2-5300), but crucial has been known to get it wrong in the past... is this correct, is it the fastest I can purchase?
Any deals on these?
Also for the HD I've heard alot of good things about Hitachi Travelstar 7K100 100GB is this the best HD to purchase?
Will this add extra Heat?
Will this add extra weight?
Any deals on these?
I am looking for a 7200RPM HD with as little weight and heat increase a possible.
Much Thanks for any/all help,

BassKozz,
They are correct on the RAM...but...since the CL is higher on the 667Mhz vs the 533Mhz you might want to get the 533. It is usually cheaper and for now the price jump doesn't justify the minimul performance increase.
I don't know on the hard drive. :p

i only have 512mb in mine (2 x 256MBs). I'm going to be getting this ram from Fry's Electronics. I haven't read anything bad about the company, mostly good reviews.

If you go to newegg.com, I believe they have that product, maybe for even cheaper. You can read the reviews there. If I remember right, I think it seems to be okay.;)

HDD upgrades.. Id wait till whenever ebay has them.. otherwise normally you will only find them off dell.com
I have a C610 which I upgraded the HDD from Ebay, I used Norton Ghost to backup the data in full to my other PC, then restored it to the new HDD so all the settings etc was clean there, just gained the extra space.
But yea.. 3rd Party HDD wont happen for internal really, but you can always use external. I just dont know if IEEE is better then USB 2.0 in terms of speed.
