aspire 1694wlmi terribly noisy!

Question:
aspire 1694wlmi terribly noisy!
hi, has anyone else noticed that the aspire 1694wlmi has an extremely noisy fan?
this wouldn't even bother me if there wasn't the fact that, when connected to a power source (not the case while on battery), it's running like all the time, even with a cpu temperature below 45 degrees (i'm using mobmeter to monitor the temperature).
is this normal and what can i do about it? does anyone know some tool to change those parameters? or is there any possibility to make the computer think it's running on battery even though it's connected to power, 'cause i've so had it with unplugging the stupid thing every time the fan sucks (which it really does!!)

Re: aspire 1694wlmi terribly noisy!
I had a noisy lappy before i applied the latest BIOS update. DO IT!!!! lolz. it will help.
visit Acer's european FTP site, look up your model and DL that BIOS.
It could help... couldnt hurt for sure.

thx, but unfortunately there is no newer version than the one i have...
i really don't know what to do, this is killing me!!

Hi. I don't know if you'r aware but there is some buttons that go dirrectly to acer eManager, in the top right corner of your notebook. If you press in the 2º own you can access Acer esettings. Then you just have to uncheck the marker that says "fan always on". I can take a foto if you like but probably my OS it's from a different language. Just ask.

nope, that option wasn't enabled. in fact the fan isn't running all the time. it starts when the temperature goes over +\- 50 degrees and doesn't stop until it's around 40, which always takes a while or cannot even be achieved depending on the cpu clock-set.
i'd like to change the settings of the fan's sensors or so, configure the temperatures differently. or it should be configured like on battery whilst connected to power. any ideas?

Thats quite strange. My processor is a bit slower than yours but doesn't heat up like that. In fact i've never had a meauser up than 41º C, and I'm talking after some 3-4 hours of intense gaming (Oblivion with the core/mem speeds of gpu @ 435/400) or video compression. At first I had the same issue has you cause the new PCI -Express interface for the graphic Card. The mouse pad was HOT LIKE HELL. You can try raise your notebook a bit like an inch or so to increase airflow cause the intake of the notebook are underneath the laptop. you can use kind of a ruber in each side of the laptop to become more stable and doesn't fall. Reply back if u don't mind. If that doens't work we will find a way ;) . Bye

constant 42 degrees after 3-4 hours of instant gaming?? that's hard to imagine ...
but still, the problem isn't even that the cpu heats up in an unusual way, it's quite normal compared to other computers, it's just that the fan settings are extremely bad (or damaged?). if the fan kicked in at like 55 degrees and stopped at around 50, it would be normal. it just doesn't need to cool down to 40, it takes too long and is completely unnessary...
anyway, i think i'm going to try this:
read the post from mhko00, what do you think about it?

Re: aspire 1694wlmi terribly noisy!
It seems that it can do the trick. Playing with the voltages of cpu it's not that difficult or dangerous and increases the lifetime of the battery when unplugged. About that 40º degrees i've built a cooling case, to maximize my stability when overclockin. To get a picture in Oblivion when I had an Akasa cooling pad the GPU fan Kicked instantly without OC, Now With almost an icrease of 100 MHz it Kicks after 10-15 min deppending on the environment temperature. Resuming your problem, I do think it would help your fan kicking cause your CPU would consume less power/producing less heat. Remenber that you will loose some muscle when dealing whit applications that consume CPU (video encoding for example) .Cheers

ok, i'm gonna try that out
thx a lot!

And here i am back again, still dealing with the same problem. reducing the cpu core voltage didn't solve the problem, the heat development isn't reduced enough to keep the temperature beneath 50 (this is about where the fan starts running)...
on battery nhc monitors temperatures of over 60 and the fan never starts, so why doesn't that work while connected to power?!
I'd really apreciate some more ideas, the stupid thing is driving me crazy!!!
