Question:
Dell Chat - your're talking to a computer!
I've noticed of late that these corporate chat programs like Dell and especially Ebay are just computers giving pat answers programmed in. Has anyone else felt this way?

I doubt that is the case. I think with dell you are actually talking to someone but they use a troubleshooting tool to give you information. I have heard that the techs are usually helping 3 or 4 people out at the same time though.

It is like talking to a computer. There is actually a person there, but they use a ton of programmed responses. I talked to a guy for 40 mins and he only began to type towards the end. You can tell pretty easily if its them or a programmed response.

You could always go on their support chats looking for a date... that'd be a pretty good way to tell if its a computer or not. ;)

Yeah, I've had some accidentally respond to my questions with stuff that doesn't apply, so I'm sure that it's a real person, and it also is pretty obvious that they talk to multiple customers at the same time because they usually follow that up with something along the lines of "I'm sorry, that response was meant for another customer". I've generally had good experiences with the online chat though.
