Question:
Dell Batteries
Hey guys, I have a question about the batteries.
I ordered a 9-cell battery with my Inspiron 6400/e1505. Some batteries I know its not good to 'top up' charge, but rather to let it die then charge fully. Is this the case with these batteries? Is it OK if the battery is say 50% and than I charge it? Will it cause a shorter life for my battery?
Thanks. My 6400 should be here by tommorow :D

Re: Dell Batteries
All Dell notebooks come equipped with Li-Ion batteries, so it doesn't matter whether you choose to charge your notebook at 5% or 95% - it won't decrease the battery's capacity.
It is a good rule of thumb, however, that you do discharge the battery below 20% on its first use.

Re: Dell Batteries
well, it's just best not to charge the battery when it's at 95%. Try to drain it down as much as possible if you can.
I usually wait for it to completely drain before recharging, just so I can optimize the lifetime of the battery. All Li-Ion batteries are made the same way anyways, so just follow that rule: "Try not to 'top-charge' the battery if you can."
