Question:
asus W3J warranty
Hi,
I've almost decided upon getting a W3J, but have some final issues as to the asus warranty. I am about to select the W3J over a thinkpad T60 with the same specs (with the exception of its x1400 vs. the W3J's x1600) and am wondering if the 1 year warranty offered is sufficient, or if I should get a 3 year warranty, as I will be using the notebook in college on a daily basis. The warranty offered by the T60 is 3 years and includes a loaner if necessary. Also, if anyone could offer me insight as to the reliability of the W3J, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

Check out this thread:
I usually buy a laptop with an American Express card and they add +1 year to the existing warranty. I used to work there and know they honor it. It's the best way to get a "free" warranty extension.

Re: asus W3J warranty
So if I bought the extended warranty(+2 years) and my credit card has that same "+1 year' warranty, will it give me a total 4 years warranty? Including the primary 1st year. I paid for it with visa and Im pretty sure somebody said that visa offers that aswell.
thanks
Dan

Re: asus W3J warranty
Probably not 4 years, no. CCard extensions usually apply to only the base manufacturer's warranty and will not add to the purchased extended warranty, as I understand it. +1 year likely makes the initial warranty 2 years instead of 1.

Thanks for the great link. I'm still waiting on any comments that may apply to the W3J's reliability and that of asus notebooks in general. I will be using this notebook on a daily basis so I need it to run under heavy use. Thanks for the help.

Ok, thanks. Actually it's quite a coincidence you responded to my thread as I was deciding between powernotebooks and proportable as the two vendors for the W3J.
