Is your CPU running at 100% constantly? Try messing around with the Realtek software and other sound options, as I don't know much about your problem.

First up, try updating the audio driver. I'm guessing that this url works and is also what you need.

Re: aspire 5672 sound prob
You can check if it's the speakers by using external speakers/headphones. If they too sound choppy, it must be your driver. Uninstall your audio driver and go to Realtek's website and download those drivers. Btw, when you installed the drivers from Acer's website did you uninstall the one before?

Check that out. I had the same problem. I ended up needing a new motherboard. This sounds like a fairly common problem on this particular notebook. The fact the thing runs hotter than an oven probably doesn't help ;)

Re: aspire 5672 sound prob
Well, in that thread someone fixed it by defraggin' your hard drive. Try that then, I guess.
P.S. My customer service experience so far has been positive. I had sound problems (static through speakers, and the "loudness" increased when you used the touchpad. They sat on it for 3 days, and sent it back. Report was that the driver needed to be upgraded, and that they did that, tested it. When I got it back, it was in pristine condition. And they DO say on their webbie that if you want to keep your original packaging, do NOT send it in that box. When the notebook is returned to you, it will be in a brown box).

I'm having the same audio problem. The choppiness/slowness gets worse if you are doing any other tasks on the computer. Did you by chance also have extremely slow startup. Mine takes 3-4 minutes, something obviously is wrong. This started happening all of a sudden yesterday when I turned my computer on.

Unfortunately, this seems consistent with what others are reporting..you may need a motherboard replacement.
