e1505 question

Question:
e1505 question
I just received the E1505 notebook today. I upgraded the screen to the WSXGA+ option w/ 256 ATI 1400 card. However when I look at the screen it just doesnt seem very sharp to me. I can see all the little pixles. Is it not set correct or can I make it sharper?? I watch movies a lot on my laptop and the screen is very important feature to me.
2nd question.
When the power cord is plug in the screen is very bright which I like. But when I unplug it the screen actually goes black for a second and is then is very dark.
Are these normal features?
Sorry if this has been posted before. But please give me feed back.

Re: e1505 question
I cant answer ur first question but the 2nd one i can. When u unplug ur laptop it dims the screen to save battery life b/c ur running on battery. u can up the brightness by pressing and holding the Fn button(bottem left) and pressing the up and down keys but u would only be burning through ur battery faster.

You might try adjusting your DPI (right click on the desktop-->properties-->settings tab-->click advanced-->adjust DPI to 96). Dell has it set to 120 as a default settings, but most users don't like this and complain that it looks weird.

be sure your res stays at 1680x1050, these widescreen monitors are cool but they only seem to support 1 resolution which is a huge drawback.

dpi at 96 looks MUCH better. Thanks!!
drumfu,
How do u run native resolution and enable cleartype?
Answer:
Re: e1505 question
native resolution is the highest resolution your LCD will handle. check the display properties and if the slider is all the way to the right, you're good to go.
display properties > settings
for cleartype
display properties > appearance > effects > Use the following method to smooth edges of screen fonts: ClearType

That happens so you can save some battery power and use it longer while unplugged
