I agree, I have an X1400 with Vista Business 32bit and 7.1 was kind of buggy, 7.2 seems very solid and helped with gaming performance in CS:S and WoW. Can't wait for 7.3, hopefully some more improvements.

Also just noticed something Interesting, Im currently using the x1400 drivers from Windows Update. When i look in Dx10 setup it says my cards memory is 382 megs :D Vista automatically implements a dynamic mechanism to share system memory for use of the GPU kind of like Hypermemory. That is why it reports a higher amount of memory. I wouldn't be surprise if a 8800GTX also gets its 768MB of VRAM extended too, but in theory, if it doesn't need it it won't take it from system RAM so it shouldn't have performance negatives.

Then why does mine say:
Driver Provider: ATI Technologies
Driver Date: 1/8/2007
Driver Version: 8.332.0.0
If 7.2 is the newest, how do I have 8.332.0.0 and SHOULD I go with 7.2?

What is the best X1400 build right now for Vista? I'm using the 7.2's for the next few days, they seem to be a little faster than the 7.1's.

Re: Best Driver build for X1400 on Vista?
For DoubleBlack: 7.2 = 8.8342.0.0, I think yours are 7.1. The longer number is just the specific driver version, where Catalyst Version 7.1, 7.2, etc are more of a package version which includes an updated Catalyst Control Center and drivers. To check your Catalyst Version, just open up Catalyst Control Center and under the "Information Center" drop down it'll list what you have next to "Catalyst Version."
