Controlling Fan Usage?
Is there a way to control when the fan turns on on a laptop? I'd like to make it so mine turns on less frequently.

You can try Speedfan...not sure if it will work on your notebook though, it will let you control the fan speed atleast:

Laptop manufacturers pretty much already have fans kicking on as little as possible. They do this to maximize battery life and minimize noise. It isn't recommended to make them kick on less frequently as you could overheat your notebook and shorten its life.

It is better to attack the fan problem from the other direction and try to reduce the heat being generated. Do a search for undervolting. I use RMclock but others use NHC. I don't how well the current AMD CPUs undervolt, but the Athlon 64 3200+ in my desktop went down about 0.25V.
