Can't keep steady connection

Question:
Can't keep steady connection
OK...So here is my problem...I bought a wireless router the other day and presumbaly haven't had too many issues. Except for one, lets see if I can keep this as clear as possible.
My wireless activity seems to work well when I first connect the router to my notebook, and unplug it. However once I restart my notebook it loses the connection and won't reconnect until I connect the router back. Remember it will keep the connection once I unplug it, just not on restart.
To combat this problem I connected the router to my desktop, this has alleviated the need to keep connecting my notebook to the router as it has held the wireless signal, however it was my intent to pack up my desktop and put it away. So how do I get my notebook to hold the routers singal without having the router constantly plugged into my desktop?

Re: Can't keep steady connection
Did you clone the MAC address during the WAN/Internet setup? DO this with the pc (desktop) used to setup the account.
And did you change the wireless parameters telling it to connect when available, found under advanced wireless network settings. Select AP only (if not requiring adhoc) and uncheck any connect to any clear network. A BAD security setting.
