How demanding is Morrowind?

Question:
How demanding is Morrowind?
The reason I as is because my brother wants to play some games on his computer with the following specs: P4 2.66GHz, 512MB ram (might get an extra gig) and an GMA integrated GPU. As a point of comparison he is able to play Halo on the comp and the hardware requirements seem fairly similar for Halo as they are for Morrowind. Just wondering what you thought, is it worth a try? Any other game suggestions would also be appreciated. He enjoys mostly RPG type games but if a FPS has a good story line he will go for it.

Might get an extra gig? For $100?
Get a half a gig extra for $30 (check fatwallet on ddr3200, I'm hoping that's your speed), and get a 7600gt pci-e for the rest of the money. Problem solved :p

That would be sweet if it had an external pci-e though. They really aught to come up with that for notebooks, I would be willing to get rid of a bunch of the ports for something like that.

Asus is coming with external Pci-e cards soon. I say get half a gig and save your money for an external pci-e card....

Well not to be all out negative (and I really appreciate your suggestions) But I hear that the XG is supposed to interface through an express slot and since his notebook only has a pcmcia slot, well that limits him again. But do you think Morrowind will run on his laptop, maybe at low settings?

Re: How demanding is Morrowind?
I've run Morrowind on a desktop with integrated graphics and 512MB ram.
It runs OK. It seems to slow down after about an hour and the graphics aren't as sharp. But no problems with fights, etc. When I notice things starting to slow or get jumpy, I'll save, exit, and restart the game and things are fine.
It does run better on more RAM and dedicated GPU. But not mind-blowingly better.

See post #2 I went through the list 5 times but only found Oblivion i.e. Morrowind was not on the list.

Re: How demanding is Morrowind?
I just re-read your post. Some older FPS games that work really well on newer machines are Heretic II, Half Life, DOOM, Hexen II. Heretic II and Hexen II are both more fantasy/FPS.
You can usually find unopened ones for great prices on www.half.com. I went on a "nostalgia" splurge of older games. They look terrific on newer (last 5 years) computers and play very well.
