Question:
Condition Zero Hijacked
I have a steam account and play condition zero. I gave my account information to a fellow clan member because he needed it to make our clan roster. Shortly after this, I stopped playing cz for a while. About a month later I tried getting on for the last few weeks and I was kicked and it said my account is being used from another location. So I contact steam support and they reset my password. I try it again and it still says someone is logged on my account. So I contact steam support again and they said that the hijacker got into my account again. So they tell me to change my passwords and my email passwords. They said if it is hijacked again they will permanantely disable my account even though I am the victim.
How can someone hijack my account? I know giving my account information out would do the trick but is there any other way? I have only given my account information out to that one person so I think he is the one. Should I assume its him? I never go on gamer sites so someone in there couldnt have done it while I was in there. I have also never played or loaded cz on any other computer.

Never give out your password to anyone. He wanted to steal your account for some reason - it's called steam phishing.

I'm pretty sure to make a clan roster all you need is your name and log in name.. why would you give him all your account info?

This is embarrasing but I dont know much about login info or alot about steam. So he told me how to access the information and I just copied and pasted it. I have no idea if what I sent him included in password. I had known the guy for a very long time and didnt realize I might have sent him my password. Is this guy the hijacker? Is there any way someone else could have hijacked my account?
However, steam changed my password twice, how can he still log in my account?

He may have done the same thing as you, emailed them and told them he needed his password changed. And if he got into your email, then he could just check that at will and get your new passwords.
The other possibility is that your computer itself is compromised, in which case you've got more to worry about than your steam account.
But Occam's razor tells us that the simplest explanation is likely the right one. And this "friend" of yours either used your info or gave it out to others.
On the upside, if you have your original box or purchase receipt or credit card record, you should be able to contact Valve and make a completely new account and have them delete the old one since it's hacked.

It's entirely possible that Steam's security has been compromised in much the same fashion that XBox-Live accounts have been getting hacked into. A roommate of mine has been going through all sorts of trouble trying to fix his account and/or get a replacement one instead of having to pay for the hijacked account. However, I have never heard of a clan roster where you had to give someone else your password. Sounds to me like that person stole your ID and gave it to someone else.

You probably copied some personal info, like an address or answer to a security question, that allows him to reset the password as soon as you try to take back the account. Change as much as you possibly can in your account if you can get control back. Also, change your email password if you can.

Why is this steams fault?
Is it ebays fault if you give out someone's password?
Is it the ******* across the streets' fault if someone steals your wallet?
So many people wanna blame stuff that on things that is their fault...
This should be common advice by now:
1. Don't give out your password to anyone.
2. Kids shouldn't have important passwords to give out (Yes, calling you a kid, you seriously must be 12 to not know this rule)
I'm sorry, it sucks that you lost your account, but jebus, the people who feel sorry for your action or blame steam...
Here's a good tip though... If people asks for your password again, don't ignore them, MAKE UP ONE. Something like 'goscrewyourself' always does the trick....
