IPv4 vs. IPv6 (Static IP's)

Question:
IPv4 vs. IPv6 (Static IP's)
Alright, So before i got my new laptop i had never seen IP version 6 (IPv6) before. And when trying to create a static IP (to forward ports) it was always under "Internet Protocol for" for my desktop.
I have my static setup fine through the IPv4 Properties.
But my question is,
is there a way to setup a static IP (manually configured instead of automatic) for IPv6?
or also.. is there any reason to? does it work any different than if its obtained automatically?

It seemed like when I tried to input certain IPv6 values manually from the command "ipconfig /all" they would either be incorrect or I could not find enough information to fill in all the needed areas.
ty if anyone can help me with this :]

That is correct. Most devices are not even IPv6 ready yet. It is going to take a very long time for the internet to be able to embrace IPv6 standards however the implementation of it in Vista will help it along a bit.

Don't even worry about IP v6, unless you're told to. In fact, what I did is just disable it entirely.
