Question:
Dell is backing off of Vista
Well, heres a big blow to Vista and all of its problems.
Seems Dell announced today that it will give people the option to have XP preinstalled in their desktop computers as well as "ALL" of their inspirion notebooks instead of Vista.

Dell has had the option since Vista came out.

Re: Dell is backing off of Vista
The article clearly states:
"Dell today revealed that it will restore the option to use Windows XP ..."
so at some time Dell had a policy to ship and make their computers ONLY with Vista pre-installed.
This announcement today states they are 'restoring the option' to choose Xp over Vista due to customer complaints

Re: Dell is backing off of Vista
I know, I said I was incorrect. The Latitude and Precision laptops always had the XP option if someone did not want Vista. The Business Inspirons also have that option, but that might be new. I never kept track of Inspiron laptops because I do not like them:tongue: .

I insists my laptop comes installed with Vista. Every operating system has problems when it is introduced.

Agreed, but should problems not be solved via beta testers? I did not sign up to be a beta tester that I'm aware of, yet I've reported over 15 issues so far...

Re: Dell is backing off of Vista
This is good that they have chosen to go this route. Might show Microsoft that they were a bit hasty to get it out the door. Yet as an insider I might mention that several testers have brought up issues that were not present during testing. Believe me when I say this but the best way to get the rest of the bugs weeded out is to just get it out to the public. We got rid of all the major ones and now we just need to get rid of the remaining software conflicts, driver issues, and so forth.
