Question:
Is my wireless card suitable for Ubuntu 7.04
I just tried live Ubuntu. It's quite fast running, however there are a pop up about my wireless card.Sorry for typing,i dont know how to capture desktop and saving in windows partition
Restricted Driver
In order for this computer to funtion properly,Ubuntu may be using driver software that can not be supported.
Because the software is proprietary,it can not easily be changed to fix any future problems
Driver--------------------------Enable--------------------Status
Intel Pro/Wireless 3945 a/b/g------ V -------------------- In use
There is also a successful wireless connected pop up ,but i cant use firefox to surf web
So what should i do now: there is any useful driver or back to XP agaib ??? Where to find a WHQL driver ???

That box should be checked, you want to use that driver. Then wireless should work perfectly.

Re: Is my wireless card suitable for Ubuntu 7.04
The wireless is working fine; the Intel card is well supported in Ubuntu. All that dialog box is telling you is that you are using proprietary hardware, and that proprietary software is being used to drive it. Basically, it's trying to get you to understand the consequences of using non-open source software, drivers, and hardware.
If you can't surf the net fine with Firefox, you might want to try using a different browser such as Opera and see if it's a Firefox problem. Also check your proxy settings if you're using a proxy.

You may want to check the settings on the router. If the wireless card is still showing the signal and showing it strong, then it's most likely some kind of security "feature" on your router trying to block out unwanted traffic. But I'm not a networking guy, so I don't know for sure.
