Question:
8400m G and GS benchmarks but none for the GT?
I'm looking at http://www.notebookcheck.net/Mobile-...ist.844.0.html
and see the benchmarks for the 8400m G and GS but no GT. I know the GT will be better than the G and GS, but I want to know how much. Anyone know the benchmarks for the GT and know if it will play supreme commander and LOTRO at med/high settings? This is the only information lacking that stops me from back ordering a sony fz. thanks!

The GT should be a very noticeable improvement over the standard 8400 because it has a 128-bit bus vs. a 64-bit one. That more than doubles the available memory bandwidth. I don't think it is going to match the 8600M-GS though, the next GPU on the ladder.
The Sony VAIO FZ is available with the 8400M-GT. Once there is a review of that out you should be able to get some benchmarks. It is only a matter of time. In the mean time you could check out benchmarks for the 8600M-GS and expect something a bit less than that.

I would expect it to be around 2300 in 3DMark06. It is essentially the same as the 8600M GS, save for clock speeds, so it should have slightly lower scores.

Thanks for the information. Time to wait for my FZ in the mail! Think I should splurge an extra $150 to go from 2 ghz to 2.2 ghz or would the difference be negligible?

The 8400M GT should get close to the Geforce Go 7600/Radeon X1600 benchmarks of the previous generation. As Chaz said, it also has a 128-bit memory bus, instead of the 64-bit memory bus on the 8400M G and 8400M GS. Two things that differentiate the 8400M GT from the 8600M GS, though, are core/memory clock speeds and the resulting memory bandwidth difference (19 Gb/s for the 8400M GT, 22 Gb/s for the 8600M GS).
