Macbook Pro gaming questions(Santa Rosa)
I am considering buying a new 2.4ghz Macbook Pro, and will be using it for alot of gaming. How will the macbook pro run these games?
-Oblivion, F.E.A.R., CS Source, HL2, Test Drive Unlimited, GTR2, FSX, and Crysis, BF2

Should run them all fine, with Crysis running at anywhere from medium to high.

dude i hate to break it to you but...im pretty sure that none of those games are support on teh mac. the only games that i have seen that run on both pc and mac are civ III and WoW. but that is just off the top of my head.

Oh, that's right. It may not be, I was assuming you'd dual boot. Crysis might be supported on osx I think.

No. Boot Camp is not an emulated form of Windows. It's the actual thing, so you can run all of those games fine, as long as you have a spare copy of Windows lying around. It looks like within the upcoming months, most new games will be supported on OS X. Especially ones from EA, but more publishers will follow.

You can run them if you use BootCamp. You'd have to buy the windows operating system though.

they do, the asus sells the g1s (15.4 in) and the g2s (17 in) and the prices are about $500 cheaper

It looks like Dell might be throwing themselves into the MBP competition ring with these new systems
They don't seem as though they will support quite as high processors as the Macbook Pro (2.2 ghz as opposed to the MBPs 2.4 ghz), but the 8600m gt is there, although we don't know what the video memory specifications are yet.
I'm seriously considering purchasing the new Macbook Pro 2.4 ghz 15 inch. I'll probably hold off until the wait for the 160 gb 7200 rpm drive isn't almost a month though. Still, this is very strange for me, being a PC only person. I've owned over 11 windows desktops and laptops, but never a mac. Its all about Bootcamp 1.3, baby. I can have a sleek, light, long lasting 15.4 inch laptop that supports midrange gaming hardware and try out OSX at the same time with the capability to dual boot into Windows! :D
I've read across the message boards lately that the first half of your gaming list: Oblivion, F.E.A.R., CS Source, and HL2 will all run fairly well in the 8600m gt 256mb version of the macbook pro. Of those, F.E.A.R. and Oblivion are the only ones that people claim can being to strain the system. Still, from what I understand it is possible to get 25+ fps fairly consistently in those two with any Half Life 2 engine based game reaching 45+ fps.
