I was just wondering are there any media players out there that I don't have to install any codecs. I am looking for a player that just plays everything off the bat.

I am pretty certain that Winamp does what you are looking for. I have never had to install any codecs using that.

VLC plays almost everything, Media Player Classic plays a lot, you may need FFDShow with MPC however. With MPC you can also use Quicktime Alternative and Real Alternative so you don't have to have that pesky Apple and Real crap in your system.

Give Gom Player a try, if you're looking for video. I really can't tell from your post.

I go with FFDShow and then pretty much everything works, not sure if that counts as a Codec or not.

I use MPC and I downloaded one codec pack called Matroska Pack or something like that. Seems to play anything I have, and I like it better than VLC too for some reason.
