Does release of Vista mean no more XP laptops for sale?

Question:
Does release of Vista mean no more XP laptops for sale?
I've been reading a rumor over at fatwallet (HERE) claiming there will be numerous deals on Laptops with XP come the 30th of january. The reason being is that they will be selling off all the XP machines to make room for Vista Laptops.
My Question is that you won't beable to buy OEM XP laptops anymore?
Why not, I am in the market for a laptop but I would never want it to come with Vista, I want to make sure Micro$oft gets all the kinks out before I even think about upgrading from XP.
Please help clear this up for me
Thanks,
-BassKozz

I suppose that it won't be like you said for the first time, but when Vista expand,it will be harder to find a notebook with XP.Just like when XP replaced Millenium.

By the looks of it, seems that way. I live in Japan and there are number of stock clearance sales going on right now for XP preinstalled notebooks (for example Toshiba Japan has a 20% discount and NEC Japan has a 17% discount specifically on XP preinstalled notebooks). Sony Japan no longer has the option to order with Windows XP.
So it is safe to assume that once they run out XP preinstalled machines they will ship only Vista. Maybe you might be able to find XP on low end systems (512MB RAM, Celeron etc) but most probably not with high end notebooks.

There will definitely be discounts on Windows XP notebooks once Vista hits. It'll be a good chance to score deals if you don't want Vista. However, they will not be discontinuing them after a certain day -- at least not all stores. They'll just try and sell them as fast as possible to get rid of the stock.

This sucks! I really don't want a laptop with Vista on it but I don't have enough money yet to buy one now.

I read that PC World article that BassKozz posted, and I was taken aback by this statement:
"Software, such as the security suites you may have already paid for, may not run on Vista, and some require updates that aren't ready yet." Was the author (Mike Elgan) not even alive when XP came out? I thought Rule No. 1 of upgrading your OS was to uninstall your antivirus software and kiss it goodbye 'cause it's certainly not going to work with the new version. Now we expect our bloated Norten $uite$ to work across major OS releaseses -- i.e., with two different kernels -- while at the same time we blog up and down about how the new OS just isn't new or different enough to justify the upgrade?
People, we are getting the Windows Vista we deserve. Just buy it already...
