Alternative for Windows Defender?

Question:
Alternative for Windows Defender?
what alternative software can offer Real-time protection, like Windows Pretender apparently features?
seriously tho, the definitions get annoying, while my spybot and adaware do the job, and im not one to go crazy and 'accidently' install spyware, but, im looking for software that does the job real-time, as id like to think that Windows Defender apparently does
any suggestions

I think Spyware Terminator has pretty good real-time protection.

i think spyware doctor does real-time for free, but from my experience, it's a little resource-intensive. there's also winpatrol and spywareblaster, if you want to try them

Re: Alternative for Windows Defender?
i have not yet seen an app that "catches all" , virus scanner, spyware or otherwise
like usapatriot - i use both defender and Ad-Aware SE (&safe browsing) - they r free, working well together, daily "kinda" protection and once a week deep scan
bottom line is being having some kind of protection w/o the software being intrusive or slowing down ur system performance by being so aggressive (like norton, or mcafee, imo)

You can try Norton Internet Security 2007. It is not free though, but it is quite different than previous Nortons. It slim and doesnt need much resources.

It slim and doesnt need much resources. i agree that Norton 2007 has much improvements over its previous version, but for a paid virus protection app, it is still far too short of expectation, in my case - one stop.shop/catch.all type of software, to embrace it over the free apps out there.
