maybe i wait a month or so and buy a new laptop with a hd 2600 instead of a 8600m gt. which is better ?
any thoughts ?

No one knows that yet... I think their performance will be very similar... However ATI card propably will be a little less powr hungry, due to 65nm production process.

Both NVidia and ATi usually have different part numbers (processor names) for desktop and mobile GPUs. It wouldn't surprise me if M76 is based on RV630 or RV610, since those are lower power parts.

i agree with you. they are not comparing desktop parts to laptop parts, they just have one column matching desktop parts to their processor model number, and then another column doing the same for the mobility parts.
