How to use wireless?

Question:
How to use wireless?
im about 2 buy a laptop, so explain in details please how do you use a laptop wireless?
Answer: This is something you may want to research on how wireless works. As for how do you use it ?
The sort answer is you need 'something' to broadcast a wireless signal. One example is if you have a high speed connection at home , you can buy a wireless router ,there are many to choose from (google). Plug the router into your cable / dsl modem and now you should be able to get 'internet connectivity' within 100 - 150 feet ( there are a whole host of things that can interfere with the signal , these ranges are vendor claims - your mileage will vary)
Your Laptop can then connect to this signal using it's internal wireless card (you may need some one time user configuration on your part).
This in essence will allow your Laptop "internet /Lan connectivity". It will not be as fast as wired (ethernet) but for most home high speed users the speeds are faster than the interent connection , so it is fine.
There are numerous standards today 802.11b , 801.11a , 802.11g and the new 802.11n - if you are buying equipment , just make sure the router you buy and the Laptop card talk the same lingo (802.11 'x')
It is great when it works and for the most part it does within a range - but as with any technology there are issue.
Good luck ....dy

Answer: Sort of, you have to connect to an access point, but after that, yes, it's just on.
