Question:
Hard Drive Backup Software
I recently purchased an external hard drive and would like to know if anyone has any recomendations for software I can use to backup my laptop's hard drive (80 GB, external is 250 GB). One thing I really want is to be able to restore my laptop to a certain state off of the external hard drive. Another, but not necessary feature would be the ability to monitor changes to the drive and backup as necessary.
I have no preferences for specific brands and would like the price to be below $50 if possible. I would appreciate any recomendations.

Acronis will do everything you want it to do for you.
Remember, it is a free download at Seagate if you have a Maxtor or Seagate drive...

Acronis is really nice and easy, it can even backup the whole OS

I have not used it but from the description it sounds like it will just image your drive and transfer it to another drive. Which is one of the things true image does. But true image has lots of other things like incremental images, document backups, and exploring the images after they are made. I doubt the free version will allow that, but you can always try it first.

Yeah, I tested out DiscWizard and it didn't really have all the features I really wanted (especially the planned backups) so I went ahead and got Acronis full version. So far I'm really happy with it!
