Question:
broadcom vs intel
ok i have a quick question for notebook gurus out there
i have had a number of apps not work b/c of my intel 2200 b/g, this includes aircrack and os x on my dv4170us
id like to purchase a broadcom mini pci card and replace the intel one in my laptop
i just wanted to know, are there any noticeable performance differences between the two, that is to say, is one particularly faster or better with power management
thanks in advance

Re: broadcom vs intel
For Windows I would consider the Broadcom worse. It also had problems under Linux for a long time but recently support has become very good. Powermanagment is not different. I orignially got the broadcom because i could use after-burn fuction with my Linksys WRT 54g. But I switched back to Intel after running into trouble with windows sleep mode and linux. The range of both are about the same and speed too. Both have horrible wifi management programs so I always just used the build in one for windows.
Why not spend a little extra and get an atheros chip. It is better then both.

Re: broadcom vs intel
The pre santa rosa Macbook pro uses the Atheros AR5008 chip. So it should work in OSX. Not sure if it has changed in the Santa Rosa Macbook pro. I know it is still a Atheros chip but not sure which one.
