The specs with the 8400M GS will be better than the X3100 obviously, since the X3100 is an integrated graphics card chip. Theo nly thing the X3100 config has over the 8400M GS config is that it has more RAM, which you can always upgrade yourself later.

sorry, but isnt 1GB of RAM ok for Vista as the graphics card has 128mb? As the other has 2GB RAM yet the graphics card will need memory.

You'll run Vista better on the one with 2GB of RAM, but games will be better with the 8400 GS (however, RAM will still be a bit low).
Ideally, just buy the 8400 GS one and add more RAM yourself for cheap.

Well which one is it, vista or HL2.
The second laptop will run vista better because it has 2gb of ram.
The first laptop will run HL2 MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH better because it has a dedicated card.
So what do you want ur laptop to do, run vista or HL2?
