Does wireless generate lag?

Question:
Does wireless generate lag?
Hello guys.
Im setting up my laptop for college/leasure use, and i would like to know if a wireless router lags the connection up. Im an avid gamer, and i am usually pretty weary of wireless connections due to lag, but im not sure if its a myth, in my imagination, or just plain nonsense.
Thanks for your time and patience

Re: Does wireless generate lag?
I guess it depends on the equipment, the distance, and interference. When I was gaming on my laptop I had no lag whatsoever. But then again, my router was 15 feet away from me and the signal was only having to travel through a couple of walls.
My two cousins have a different story. The older one games on his Dell E1505 and has no connection issues at all. But his younger brother who plays on his desktop computer with a USB wireless adapter has random lags. He'll play CS:S and every now and then he'll just skip like 25 feet. It also happens when were talking on Ventrilo. I thought it was some kinda of interference but it all came down to his lame USB adapter.
Mike.

Generally no. I've been gaming on wireless for years and not had any issues with it casuing lag. A duff adapter or router might cause some, but good equipemtn will be fine.

Re: Does wireless generate lag?
Lags show up when you have multiple users on wireless. With one or more users that are doing large downloads or running P2P software will. Mainly because they are trying to use all of the available bandwidth.
But wired is always the best, but the key is not to cheap and use good hardware as previous mentioned.
