Question:
Lenovo GMA 950 question
I just picked up a new lenovo 3000 N100 for about $320 with 2GB of pc2-5300, a dual core pentium at 1.6GHz 533MHz fsb and 120GB HDD. I've seen people here talking about how they can get their GMA 950 to do some decent gaming, but mine can't even after stripping out all the unnecessary software I can find. So, if I upgrade the processor to something with a 667MHz fsb and gain 20% in memory bandwidth, would it improve my fps enough to make it worth it?

Re: Lenovo GMA 950 question
No. The GPU core is the bottleneck and nothing will change that.
Decent gaming comes from playing older games at medium or lower settings.

As Greg mentioned, dont expect much(gaming wise) with the GMA 950 even if you upgrade the CPU. With that in mind, take a look at the . It shows various screen shots of games that you might be interested in and their quality/settings/problems/"playability".

Re: Lenovo GMA 950 question
The 950 cn handle some very basic stuff, WoW at lowest for example but anything remotely challenging it's going to be awful, for the most part.
Your laptop would be better suited to mobile browsing and IM, basically windows based tasks.

Thanks, I guess I'll just stick with the older stuff. Everything from 2003 and older seems to run fine.
