Connecting Gamecube to my laptop

Question:
Connecting Gamecube to my laptop
Hi. I'm trying to connect my Gamecube to my laptop so that i can use my laptop as a monitor. I have a Sony Vaio VGN-FS660 Laptop with an external dock. on the dock there is a Video-in and L-R Audio in (the yellow red and white connection). When i plug in the gamecube wire into them the sound comes on immediately but the screen looks the same. I am unable to get the video of the Gamecube to show on my laptop screen. Thnx so much for helpin and i hope this is the correct place to post my question.
The dock also has an s-video in which i do not have the cord to connect my gamecube into that slot but if i need to use the s-video slot for it to work, i will purchase the cord.
THnx again for the help.

You need a special device for this. I done this for my 360.

That's the device you need. I got mine for about 20$ on Amazon.com

BTW: I hate my GameBridge lol. I mean it works great and all. The only problem is the video quality is absolutely terrible. I could get better quality on an old black and white TV than using the gamebridge. It works great for what it was made for though. For 20$ I don't regret buying it. It still comes in handy. It's a nice cheap TV Tuner as well :).
There may be better devices for this but none that I know of. Other people on this forum will know.

When i say dock i mean this http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc...es_TV_PVR.html
shouldn't that already take care of the external converting in order for my laptop to play the video component?

Oh... um I think you have to tell the monitor where to get the input from. "I may be wrong about this." There is a shortcut to do this. I think it's Fn+F5 but this is on a Toshiba A105-S2101. And again I may be wrong. Someone will know more about it than me. Never used a docking station.

Warning: Even if you do get it to work , there might me a one to two second lag due to the processing the decoder needs for the image to show up on ou monitor

Re: Connecting Gamecube to my laptop
yeah fn+f7 would be the only one that changes imput but i think that changes monitors not where the imput is from. if i hit it is says 2 options, Lcd only which it is currently selected and setup. CLicking setup does nothing however so i dont think thats the button. I do however think you are right in changing the imput. THe only question is how.
