Does the Intel Nextgen Wireless N card make the internet speeds faster or does it only just make the range of reception greater?

It won't make internet faster, since internet speeds are much lower than what wireless-N can offer.

wifi had pretty much covered internet speeds since the inception of 802.11a, years ago.
just increasing stability and range at this point. also, if you are on an internal network (which obviously does not go through the internet) you can transfer data faster internally.

Wait does that mean that the Wirless N card will make the b/g more stable and have a bigger range or will onle the "N" benifit by being more stable with a bigger range?

Only the N would benefit from the longer range.

If you read the passage after you selected your wireless card, it says "2x distance, 5x the speed" and then in small print is said "speed can only be increased with purchase of a wireless N router, which you can find here" and it gave you a link to a 200 dollar router. So if you get a N router, and you set it to only output a N signal, then you will notice a speed change, along with range.
Now range is increased no matter if you are using a b/g/n or whatever router.

Oh ok so if i buy the Intel Wireless N card the range of b/g will also increase but its speed will stay the same?

The speed will stay the same for short distance. But when the singal gets weaker the speed is reduced and there draft N / new cards have a slight advantige. The range might change a bit because the wifi chips and antenna become more advanced. Wifi B/G does not denefit from the 3rd antenna that draft N uses. I get slightly better range with my macbook pro with draft N compared to me Samsung Centrino notebook with a b/g chip. This is when using a b/g only router. In my kitchen I get a stable 11mbit connection with the Samsung and I can still get 36mbit with the Macbook pro.

So it does benifit to have a Wirless N card in a laptop even if the router is only b/g?
