Battlefield 2 or Battlefield 2142? I'm looking to get one.
Which is better? I'd be getting all available expansions as well. :)

battlefield 2 is a tad more realistic, battlefield 2142 is a tad more up to date.
a lot of people don't like the prevalent balancing issues in bf2, but battlefield 2142 still seems like a downgrade in fundamental level design for some reason.
taking down the titan is really fun though.
i would go bf 2142, but barely. i would *almost get battlefield 2.

I personally like BF2 because its Modern Combat. 2142 is too futureistic for me. Both are great games though. I think BF2 is actually the more favored game now...there are still 3000-5000 servers on 24/7. Its kinda a matter of preference.

Etiher or and you'll be happy. Both are different time settings (i.e. present to future) but fall under the same genre. I love BF2142 as that's what I play. I just got BF2 and will eventually get around to installing it. BF2 just had an upgrade so people are back to playing it. For a while, when BF2142 came out, most gravitated from BF2 to it. Now it's full circle again...since BF2 has an upgrade, people want to try it out again.

Id have to say theres a bunch of AIMBOT using hackers on both games....which is SOO anoying!! I wish Punkbuster could elmiinate those stupid programs. It just ruins it for us folks who just want to have fun.

More serious, more in depth, team work factor then BF2142 wins.
Still, people can't be wrong. There are thousands more players playing BF2 rather than BF2142.

just because more people are playing it doesn't necessarily make it better. a lot of that has to do with system requirements and performance. battlefield 2142 recommends 1.5 gigs of ram. i bet that turns a lot of noses up. most people have 1 gig of ram.

You have a good point. But its easier to find that certain map preference in BF2 because of the larger population playing it. So either way. And i think its funny how so many people are going back to BF2. Theres gotta be a reason other than 1.5 gigs of ram.

oh yeah there definitely is.
i side with bf2142, but i think its close. i would almost recommend bf2, but i lean slightly toward 2142.
the ram thing is just one reason among many.
edit: better idea- just get bf2 and bf2142 and don't waste your money on the expansions. almost no one hosts expansion servers.
