Question:
Cant my laptop play CSS on HIGH or DX2?! (7400 go)
Can anyone tell me if my laptop should be able to handle DX2 or BF2 ?
DX2 runs terribly I have no idea why, CSS runs at around 30 FPS and this is on med settings, drivers are up to date as well as spyware and virus definitions..

Ive tried tweaking the settings in the nivida panel to performance only and no ai or aa on but still the same bad fps....
Any ideas please?! :confused:

Try different drivers? Go7400 won't tear through BF2, but it will run at medium-ish settings without any hiccups. Check out my Go7400 screenshot thread, to give you an idea of what both me and a few other members can get out of it in modern games. I've never overclocked mine, so it's all taken at stock, and the drivers I used for the games testing are listed somewhere in there too.
Personally, I got 50-80fps out of CSS at 1024x768 at high settings. Also, as obvious as it sounds, you are playing while on AC and not battery power right?

Are you trying to run the aforementioned games at your LCD's native resolution? If so, that would explain the poor performance. You would be both pixel fillrate and memory bandwidth limited at your lappy's native resolution with the Geforce 7400 Go.

You should be able to run CSS at 1280x800 with high settings and still get 50fps or so. Check your drivers.

download and install the latest WHQL drivers fro laptopvideo2go.com (it will have instructions on how to install them)

Ive updated to the latest drivers from laptopvideo2go still getting the same fps, yes Im using an external monitor with a rate of 1280 x 1024 would it make that much difference to my fps?

Forgot to add on sony's site it says the following for my laptop model:
NVIDIAŽ GeForceŽ Go 7400 notebook graphics processing unit with Total Available Graphics Memory of 335MB
However when I look in display settings it tells me the following:
TOTAL AVAILABLE GRAPHICS MEMORY: 559 MB
DEDICATED VIDEO MEMORY: 64 MB
SYSTEM VIDEO MEMORY: 0 MB
SHARED SYSTEM MEMORY: 495 MB
Is it possible to increase the dedicated video memory, could this be causing my low fps?

Very Funny.... Except not, Vista runs games fine. It has to be your video card drivers. And does your game just compleatly freeze at any point?

Yes running vista Home edition... My games don't crash at all, Ive tried both the latest driver and an older driver and it doesn't make any difference at all :(
