Does the power adapter matter?

Question:
Does the power adapter matter?
Just wondering, as my performance in CSS is lacking - is it because I'm using the 65W power adapter and not the 90? Just wondering.
Thanks

if its what came with your notebook then its enough to power what you have. if not then you might want to see what OEM spec is and get a replacement with the correct power rating.

Re: Does the power adapter matter?
Power adapters do not matter for your performance. If you get a 500w adapter doesn't mean that you'll get 10x the performance.
You system came with a 65 because that's the power it needs. Anymore will not help, because giving more power to electronics wont make them better. But it can fry them.
The only reason people upgrade to the 90w adapter for Dells is when doing a gpu upgrade. The more powerful gpu requires more power to run, so that's why people get the beefier adapter.

it sure matters for system stability though. if ur power adapter is not giving ur system enough juice then ur system will be very unstable. could just randomly shut down @ heavy load.

Re: Does the power adapter matter?
Well, would randomly shutdown include these random Black Screens - the computer just locks up sometimes when I'm playing games on these. Not sure if its those or my drivers (Happened with Catalyst 7.7 and now the beta 7.8).

Re: Does the power adapter matter?
If you computer shipped with a 90w and you're using a 65w your performance will decrease. The same thing happened to me with my old Inspiron E1705.

Nope, shipped with 65w.

Re: Does the power adapter matter?
Nope, shipped with 65w. Then you are not experiencing any performance loss, and u wont get any boost by going to 90.
The only time it would matter is like Ryan said if your computer came with 90w and u were using a 65w.
