Is it worth it?

Question:
Is it worth it?
I am looking to put a video card in my Inspiron 6400 and I wanted know if, with my specifications, it would be worth it.
I have intel Core Duo, 1.6GHz, and 1GB RAM. What would be a card that would give me good frames while playing Counter-Strike source?
Im looking into the ATI Mobility X1400 and the nVidia 7300.

Im looking into the ATI Mobility X1400 and the nVidia 7300. If you must pick one, X1400 offers faster performance than the slower 7300.

If you currently have the Intel GMA 950 you CANNOT upgrade the video card.
If you have the X1300 then it would be possible. The X1400 is the more powerful one.
Also you must buy the video card off Dell or eBay specific to your model.
It will also void your warranty.

If you have integrated, you can't upgrade.

Re: Is it worth it?
Note that, as posted above, if you have an integrated GPU you cannot upgrade without buying a new motherboard, as the dedicated GPU uses a different motherboard.
The best GPU available for that computer is the x1400.
Also, if you caused any damage while upgrading, that damage would not be covered under warranty.

You should never purchase a laptop thinking you can just upgrade core components, because even the ones you can "technically" upgrade, are seldom ever worth the risk/cost/reward. Ram and hard drive are basically the only internals that are truly user upgradeable, with everything else, make sure you get at least what you need(overkill isnt always a bad idea in laptops) with the mindset that upgrading is a complete impossibility, in your case it is, the cost of the card and motherboard will run you about as much as getting a new vostro 1400 or 1500 with similar specs to what you now, only with an nvidia 8400 video card. Your best bet if you need more video power would be to sell what you currently have, and buy a new machine that better fits your wants/needs.
