Internet Service and Wireless Router

Question:
Internet Service and Wireless Router
I currently have my desktop connected to a cable modem because we have Cox. I am going to be getting a laptop with a wireless card, and obviously have to get a wireless router. Will I have to pay extra to get internet for my laptop, or does Cox allow multiple computers to access the internet for the same price?
Any help would be appreciated.

Any help would be appreciated. i also have cox cable and no, ISPs do not charge you for multiple connections behind the cable modem.
the (wifi) router will handle routing the signal from the cable modem to whatever devices you have behind it.

AOL used to only allow one user at a time but even they've stopped that practice.

Most ISPs only allow one MAC address, this is why a router is needed. The ISP receives the MAC address of the Router and then the router basically shares its connection with the network (Very low level explanation). There is no way AOL could enforce only allowing one computer the router made that possable.

I'm not sure of the specifics, but from what I remember, you always had to sign on AOL with your screenname to use the Internet. That was how they enforced their policy and tied their browser to everything.
