Question:
Driver for Mobility Radeon 7500
Does anyone know which driver the Mobility Radeon 7500 uses? I've tried the standard Catalyst driver, but there was an error. My video card works OK, but a control center of some sort would be nice. I'm sure there are 3rd party control centers, but one that's officially supported by ATI would be better.

Use the omega drivers, they should work, and also give you better performance too!

Alright, trying it out now. Is there a way to throttle the GPU speed down when it's not needed?

i dont think so, but i dont really have too much experience with them

if those dont work, check this out: http://www.driverheaven.net/patje/ it is supposed to let you install the latest catalyst drivers on a mobile GPU!

Re: Driver for Mobility Radeon 7500
Ok. I've opted for the Catalyst drivers, since the Omega package I thought was too big and messy. One thing, though, why doesn't ATI release drivers for mobile graphics cards? Also, I can't seem to control PowerPlay settings. Any reason?
One more thing: I seem to get the best 3DMark scores without the Omega or the Catalyst drivers. In fact, the Catalyst drivers reduced the score significantly. Does this mean I'll be better off without these drivers?

Regarding performance, the Catalyst drivers sets your graphics settings higher than normal. When you goto the Control Panel, it'll probably say Quality (or closer to Quality setting). Setting this to custom and balancing it out will help with performance numbers.
For the PowerPlay, how did you install the drivers? Did you use DriverHeaven's ATI Mobility Modder or did you just manually installed? Manually installing may be the cause of the problem. Try using the ATI Modder and see how it works.

Re: Driver for Mobility Radeon 7500
I used DriverHeaven's modder to install the Catalyst drivers. The PowerPlay works, I think, but I just don't know how to access its options. Also, I didn't know that actual 3DMark scores would be lower if quality settings are changed; I thought it would take that into account.

Re: Driver for Mobility Radeon 7500
You should just need to go into the Power Play Tab and it lists 2 sliders, one for Battery & another for AC. You just need to set what level of performance when on battery and AC. Usually when you're on battery, you won't be playing games or doing anything really heavy on your graphics, so set it to save on battery when you're on battery and to performance when you're on AC.
Yes, the scores will vary depending on what settings you have set in the Advaced sections. I tried it multiple times using 3DMark05 and found that setting it all to max settings (quality settings) the test scores dropped by 50%. Changing the settings to defaults had the numbers go back up. You can drop the settings to performance, but that will decrease overall visual quality in games, so it's best to leat it at defaults.
The tests will auto set the features in some cases if the tests are testing those settings, but if you manually set the quality, it should run at those quality settinsg for everything. I'm sure if you tried changing the settings you'll see a difference in the numbers.

Thanks Venombite for all your responses. For some reason, I don't see a PowerPlay tab on the Catalyst Control Panel. I know that my graphics card has PowerPlay, but maybe these settings aren't adjustable?
