Hey folks- does anyone know the way to reboot laptop with frozen windows xp home...
power button doesn't seem to help..

hold the power button down for 20-30 seconds
or
unplug and take out battery

Thanks! the power button did the trick - i tried to hold it down before but not long enough i guess)
Also is there any way to run a scandisk or some software to check your hdd for corrupt data etc after such reboot?

XP should do that automatically when it doesnt shut down properly.
It would show you a scandisk screen on the first reboot, after you forced a shutdown.

ahh-it didnt show me any screens that time-just logged in as usual-nothing serious then i guess)

yea..that's happened to me a few times for my desktop...and nothing came up

It could be different with SP2 installed. Im not sure if it is on by default still in SP2, I havent really looked. But it used to be set that way.

XP only does the scan if the hard drive is formated using FAT32. If you use NTFS, it skips it alltogether.
