Laptops with 15.4" screens AND 256mb graphics

Question:
Laptops with 15.4" screens AND 256mb graphics
I posted before about the dell 6000/9300 dilemma.
I've now decided that the 17" screen will make the laptop too big so am looking at 15.4" laptops. However i would still like a 256Mb deciated graphics card, but have been unable to find any such laptops.
The best graphics card i can find in a 15.4" laptop is an Ati X300 128Mb, or the nVidia Gefore 6200 128Mb, Dell and sony respectively, and apparently they aren't very good. My aim is to be able to play Battlefield 2 / Half Life 2 btw.
Any recommended laptops with the right size screen +graphics card would be appreciated, plus any comments about the ability of the 128Mb cards mentioned above in relation to battlefield 2.
Thanks
PS i'm from the UK

Hi,
I believe one of the Asus models (Z71v?) have a 128mb Nvidia 6600 card in it. Not sure if it is available in the UK though. Another option could be the Toshiba M40 series. It too has the 6600 card. I would say the 6600 is a very capable card for gaming, slightly ahead of the X700 in terms of performance i believe.
Cheers.

You could consider the Dell Precision M70. It has 256MB Quadra Go 1400 (similar to Geforce 6800 Go) and 15.4 inch screen.
Not exactly cheap or light, but seems to be a good compromise between power and portability.
Another option is the HP NW8240, but in the UK it is significantly more expensive than the Dell. The HP is lighter and has a FireGL card which is equivalnet to the X700. Although its a very nice machine, the price difference with the Dell means that its not a good deal.
Oh, and have a look here for a good comparison between portable GFX cards... http://kettya.com/notebook2/3dmark03.htm

The Gateway 7510GX has a Mobility Radeon X600 with 128MB dedicated, up to 256MB with HyperMemory.
It's worth noting, though, that only but the fastest GPUs really have the horsepower to properly utilize 256MB of video memory. Even the Radeon 9800 Pro's performance barely improved with the jump from 128MB to 256MB of video memory.

MSI has a number that have 128MB as well (X700 and Nvidia 6600 if I recall, not sure if they are available in the UK as well)

PS i'm from the UK Sager and Xtreme are not going to be good options. Gateway also doesnt really aim at the UK market - they have only two models available at the moment, both with Intel integrated graphics.
You could go for one of the Sager/Xtreme clones, there are a number.

Cheers. I am sorry but you are wrong on the performance of the X700 compared to the 6600 Go. It is true that they are similar chips, however, the X700 is overall a better chip. It runs cooler and posts better scores than the 6600 Go and it runs with lower clock speeds. So if you every wanted to overclock the X700, it would perform that much better than the 6600 Go.
Now for the topic at hand. ASUS z70va has a great screen and an X700 128 MB, MSI-1029 and MSI-1032 have 15.4" screens and have a 6600 Go 128 MB in them.
The Quanta MW1 is a 15" SXGA+ screen (not widescreen, but they are coming out with a widescreen version soon) with a 6600 Go 128 MB (this graphics card is an MXM, which means you can easily swap it out for a faster card later when they become available). You can find the Quanta MW1 at powernotebooks.com and istnc.com.
There is the PROSTAR 4062. It has a 15" SXGA+ (not widescreen) with a 256 MB X700, looks like a good notebook and it is only 7.2 lbs. So far this is all I have found that have 15.4" or 15" screens that you might be interested in.
Oh yeah, you can always look at the Acer Ferrari 4005WMLi, it is an awesome laptop with a lot of power.
