Question:
cant connect to internet
I am having a few problems with setting up my wireless network. All I want to do is set it up where the computers share an internet connection. I already have a wired router set up and have the DSL connection shared between those two computers, but now I want to add a wireless router on top of it. So the internet connection runs like this:
modem->wired router->2 computers and a wireless router.
My wireless router is a Linksys WRT54G and I have a 2915 Internal wirless card. I'm able to connect to the network, but I can't access the internet on my laptop. It always says limited or no connectivity. I already checked and my firewall is turned off and I disabled McAfee to see if that was the problem, but no luck. I think its something to do with obtaining an IP address. I have it set to automatically aquire an IP address and it obtains an IP address and Subnet Mask, but any under that is blank.
Any suggestions?

Try wired to the wireless router.
MAKE SURE the Routers Firmware and Intels Drivers are updated! Critical
Repair the connection
Are you enetering the right password also if you have security enabled?
Try disabling WEP or WPA on the router also.

get rid of the wired router.
modem > wifi router > computers
there's no need to have two routers on the same LAN.

Yeah i forgot about that. i bet that is what could be interfering with your IP and security. Then Redo the setup once you remove that

A wireless router should have wired ports on it.

Yeah, I tried it with the wireless router alone and it wont let me configure it. It says that im not connected to the router.

I have that same router and i think there is A problem with that. Strangly i either did the setup from the linksys site or i just quit installing it and oddly that worked.

wait a sec. OK somehow I managed to have everything hooked up to the wireless router and the internet works on everything except on my laptop where the connection comes and goes. I'll be connected to the internet and then it'd say limited or no connectivity. It keeps switching the connection on and off:(

Try Repairng the wireless internet connect in the properties. Did you do what we said above?
